Since the economy took a dip back in 2008 there have not been many new cars launched that have prevailed in this down market. Even the Ferrari dealers who previously had their VIP waiting list for all of their new car models had to resort to cold calling their database to fill orders.
The 510hp V12 Vantage with a 0-60mph time of 4.1 seconds was released in European markets late 2008 as a 2009 model with great success. The buzz of the fastest production model Aston Martin in history, hit the US and created many requests from enthusiasts and current Aston Martin owners to bring this car to the US. Aston Martin reported back many times that the V12 Vantage would be a limited edition model solely intended for the European market and that it would not be coming to the US. Aston Martin Dealers across the United States had to turn down deposits from hopeful prospects on the V12 Vantage as they were firmly told that they would not be receiving this model and that it would be "unethical" to take clients money.
June 2010 Aston Martin sent out an urgent message to all of its franchised US dealers that the V12 Vantage would be coming after all as a limited edition model to the US and that they all had 30 days to fill their allocations for a year end delivery as a 2011 model. The dealers were shocked, but excited to be able to present the news to their database of hopeful clients. Aston Martin sent a Carbon Black Series V12 Vantage demo from dealer to dealer around the country to allow prospective clients to experience this super car. Aston Martin of Los Gatos in CA scheduled eight VIP test drives for the day they had the demo and took deposit orders for six V12 Vantages, more than double their allocations for 2011. In a market where many highly anticipated models have arrived and failed, the V12 Vantage has prevailed.
